Just like your profile, the choice of the right photograph to be posted along with your profile is important. Here are a few tips to guide you with posting your photograph:

Post your current photograph
Don't post a photograph that is three years old or one in which you have long, wavy hair when you have chopped them recently for a short, mushroom cut. Similarly, don't choose a clean-shaven photo if you've just grown a french beard, or the one in which you look slimmer than you know you actually are. Last but not the least; don't use anyone else's photo instead of your own to cast a fake impression. Remember, sooner or later you'll have to face the reality and justify the image you presented, so better make sure the 'you' in the photo is the 'you' in real life!

Choose a solo photo
When the profile you've posted belongs exclusively to you, a group picture doesn't make much sense to be attached to it. The person viewing your profile is interested in knowing what you look like and not who your friends or family are! Paste a recent, solo picture of yours, which compliments your profile and makes the 'right' first impression.

Choose a close up
Photographs of you standing on a distant hilltop, by the waterfall or driving a vehicle by the countryside might present a beautiful backdrop but they steal away the focus from you. Keep in mind that your matches are interested in seeing your face closely; It is important for them to be able to attach a face to the words in your profile. Be sure of the picture quality and resolution
Do not post any photograph just for the sake of it. It might work just the other way round!
