Let’s
talk about breaking the sound barrier. Breaking
the sound barrier doesn’t mean to
practice shouting loud or clearing your
throat loud.
You should not speak in a manner that your
speech becomes invisible in seconds or vaporizes
like the split second effervescence of a
chemical solution. You should speak the
words you mean that come straight from your
heart. That makes you evolve to become the
very special person that you are. To be
able to do this, you need to have strong
beliefs, values and above all, tremendous
self confidence. Self confidence comes from
feeling positive about yourself and just
being yourself.
The foundation of any relationship are thoughts
and words. As the thoughts form in the mind,
they transform into words and the words
transform into action. Speaking clearly,
correctly and convincingly is like taking
the first step in getting past the sound
barrier.
Different ways to break through
the sound barrier
How to talk only…!
Following are some of the ways you
can learn to get over your self consciousness
and become a good speaker.
Have an abiding passion in your
life
You should be able to sum up in a few lines
about what it is that really drives you.
Is it the work that you do? Is it your hobby?
Or is it your personal philosophy about
life? It is very important to evolve into
a person of deep conviction. You can do
that only when you are strongly convinced
about the appropriateness of something that
you are pursuing in your life. Thoughts
like “What are the many experiences
that you have in life that really drives
you and everything in your life?”.
You must be able to define it in a few sentences.
Explore and cultivate that dimension in
your life.
Define and evolve your own code
of rights and wrongs
Things that you will do and things that
you won't. Be principled.
Respect others
Respect is the foundation in any relationship.
Respect can develop only when people behave
in a manner worthy of being respected. To
be able to command respect, you need to
be that person who sticks to all those old
fashioned values that are fast disappearing
now-a-days. Respect is that grudging sense
of admiration that comes only when the other
person sees you demonstrate certain qualities
that are universally appreciated, like honesty
or compassion. |
